In the second phase, players are outside the town with Sonic speeding through dynamic moves and using the thrust of the Xbox 360 technical capabilities to accomplish his objectives. In the first phase, you can explore the surroundings with Sonic in town and play mini-games as you interact with new creatures. If a character has rings and is struck by an enemy, then the rings will shoot out everywhere and must be collected again. Rings must be collected to gain health, and a character can only die if it has no rings. The Xbox 360 version of Sonic the Hedgehog uses the same ring mechanics as other games in the franchise. Tails can fly to areas to unlock mini-games and get through challenging obstacles. A number of side characters can also be activated to reach areas such as using Knuckles to punch through walls. The character of Silver can be used to explore specific areas, uncover clues, and solve puzzles to get through specific parts of a level. Shadow can be used to combat enemies or ride various vehicles like a motorcycle. Sonic can be played with for a majority of the levels, but there are also two other Hedgehogs that can be toggled through. The Hedgehog meets new characters in this game while reacquainting with old friends as he strives to stop the evil Eggman and his sidekicks. The game contains fast-paced action through a mysterious and magical kingdom. Eggman in his disastrous scheme to destroy everything in his path.
